Skycrest Baptist: History
|
Planted by God
Skycrest held its first Sunday School classes in May 1954 in a small white cottage on what once had been a gladiola farm in a new neighborhood called Skycrest. Within a few short months the tiny mission was bursting at the seams.
After reorganzing as a church later that year, Skycrest built a new worship building, dining facility and education complex. The church continued to grow.
In the mid-1980s, Skycrest exchanged its original property for a 7½-acre landscape nursery on the southeast corner of Belcher Road and Drew Street. On June 14, 1987, the first services were held on what is now our present church campus.
God rooted us where living plants were being nurtured and continues to grow us today.
