Skycrest Baptist Church was started as a Mission Church in 1954 and missions has been a focus ever since.
At Skycrest, there are many opportunities for people of all ages to be involved in Missions, both local and global. Locally there are church-wide events such as Project Family which reaches out to families in our community to provide food and a special day for the families to enjoy together. There are also opportunities within the Connection Groups to adopt a local mission project.
Globally Skycrest supports missionaries throughout the world both financially as well as serving with them on International Mission Trips.
Pray about how God would have you be involved and connected with Missions at Skycrest!

OTHER WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
There are many opportunities to be involved in missions at Skycrest:
PRAY: Pray for those on the mission field. Pray each time you come in contact with someone who is searching for meaning in their life. That is YOUR mission field. Prayer needs for Skycrest-sponsored missionaries are updated weekly on our church prayer sheet so you can pray for current needs.
GIVE: Not all of us can commit to full-time mission service here or abroad. But we can support those who do. Help support our missionaries through special offerings and our Faith Promise missions pledge.
GO: There are many opportunities to be involved with local missions efforts including Project Family, a twice-a-year event where Skycrest provides a week's supply of food to hundreds of needy families in our area, and our partnership with nearby Oak Grove Middle School. Our annual shopping trip to Super Target with underprivileged Oak Grove students is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9.
There also are opportunities to participate in short-term international trips. For information about upcoming trips and how to receive an application form, contact Linda Perry at

Q & A ABOUT MISSIONS AT SKYCREST:
What is Faith Promise? Faith Promise is a one-year monetary pledge to support missions here at Skycrest. Families pledge a confidential amount of money weekly, monthly or annually to help support Skycrest-connected missionaries and other local ministries. The funds are kept in a trust to ensure that sponsored missionaries and missions organizations will continue receiving adequate support for years to come.
How do I give to Faith Promise? You can write a check or place cash in the offering envelopes found in the worship center pew racks. On the outside of your envelope, please indicate that the money is for "Faith Promise." If you want to include your Faith Promise pledge with your general offering, please indicate on the outside of the envelope how much you wish to designate toward Faith Promise. You may also now set up an on-line giving account, just contact the church office for more information.
What is the Cooperative Program? The Southern Baptist Convention established the Cooperative Program in 1925, enabling all Southern Baptists to work together to support missions efforts worldwide. Through the International Mission Board, Southern Baptists support 4,946 missionaries in 153 different countries. Your gifts and prayers resulted in 451,000 new believers being baptized in 2000 outside of North America. Through the North American Mission Board, 5,081 missionaries were sent out last year and helped start more than 1,700 new churches.
Does Skycrest support only Southern Baptist Convention-sponsored missionaries? No! Some Skycrest-sponsored missionaries have partnered with independent missions agencies for a variety of reasons including the specific region God has called them to or the ministry opportunities offered by that particular agency.
