At Skycrest, we want our first impressions to reflect Christ’s love and character. We are called to kindness, love, and understanding in our interactions with people. These first impressions can pave the way for deeper relationships that are impactful and meaningful over time.
As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.
If you’d like to help make people feel welcomed, loved, and valued; join our team as a greeter or connections desk host.

They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression—and that’s especially true at church.
At Skycrest Community Church, our First Impressions Team plays a vital role in our mission to Make Friends, Meet Needs, and Make Disciples. This team is the front line of hospitality. Before a guest ever hears a sermon or sings a worship song, they experience the love of Christ through a smile, a handshake, or a friendly “We’re glad you’re here.”
For many, visiting a church for the first time can be intimidating. Will I be welcomed? Will I know where to go? Will I feel out of place?
The First Impressions Team helps answer those questions with warmth and grace. Your kindness helps remove barriers and makes space for people to experience God in a powerful way.
Serving on the First Impressions Team isn’t about handing out bulletins—it’s about preparing hearts.
Here’s what your simple actions can do:
👋 Welcome guests into a safe, loving environment
🧭 Help first-time families get where they need to go with ease
🙌 Create space for God to work by removing distractions and stress
💬 Encourage someone who might be deciding whether to follow Jesus
You are the first sermon people see.
There’s a place for every personality:
Greeters – Offering smiles and hellos at the door
Connect Desk Hosts – Answering questions and helping people get plugged in
Ushers – Helping guests find a seat and feel at home
Parking Lot Team – Making a great impression before they even walk in
“Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” – Romans 15:7
If you love people, have a heart for hospitality, and want to make a difference in someone’s eternity—this is your team.
