Judges: Israel Falls Short After Joshua
Judges 1–2
After Joshua dies, Israel fails to fully drive out the wicked nations as God commanded. God warns them, and the book begins its sad cycle of disobedience.
Deborah: Faithful in a Time of Fear
Judges 4–5
With Israel oppressed, God raises up Deborah, a prophet and judge, to lead them to victory over Sisera. Her faith and courage were rewarded, and Judges 5 answers with a song of praise.
Gideon: God Wins with Few
Judges 6–7
God raises up fearful Gideon and whittles his army down to 300 men. Victory comes by God's power, not by numbers or strength.
Samson: Wasted Potential, Lasting Grace
Judges 13–16
Samson was gifted with great strength but compromised again and again. Even so, God was faithful, and his grace can redeem a broken story.
Judges 17–18: Everyone Did What Seemed Right
Judges 17–18
With no king, Israel descends into chaos: Micah makes an idol, a wandering Levite becomes his priest, and the tribe of Dan steals both. We must worship God his way, not our own.
